What is SECHO?
SEHCO (South East Hampshire Community Outlook) was formed in 2005 with members from community groups and active individuals who are Portsmouth Housing Association residents. PHA has over 5000 homes across Portsmouth and SE Hampshire.
SEHCO was formed to secure funds and to run events and activities in our local communities. It currently manages jointly with PHA, a small grants fund for community activities on PHA estates. It is run by a committee that meets bimonthly. SEHCO is a charity and a company limited by guarantee. It is supported by PHAs Community Regeneration Team.
What is Our Young People's Big Lottery Project?
A 3 year project to employ two part time young people's workers with a budget to support young people's activities on PHAs social housing estates on Gosport, Fareham, Havant and Portsmouth (South East Hampshire). The purpose is to involve young people and adults in activities improving their experiences and life in their communities.
What is The "Estate Crew"?
The Estate Crew is a group of young people who have come together from three of the PHA estates and have been involved in helping inform activities on their estates and work on the Big Lottery funding bid. They also ran a competition to come up with the SEHCO logo. They are involved in the recruitment of the Young Peoples Workers and will work closely with them when they start work.
What is The Community Activity Fund?
The fund has been secured by SEHCO from PHA for community activities on PHA estates or activities in communities where a significant number of PHA residents will benefit. Groups can apply to SEHCO for any amount between £50 and £1000, but most of the grants will be for smaller amounts. A grants panel, made up of SEHCO members and PHA staff will consider applications every 8 weeks (usually at a SEHCO Committee meeting).
