Working with residents

At Portsmouth Housing Association (PHA) resident involvement is an integral part of our business. We recognise the importance of involving our residents in all aspects of our service to ensure we are delivering high quality, customer-led services.

PHA works within a culture of continuous service improvement and recognises the importance of residents' views to help continually develop and improve servcies. We will ensure that the aims set out in our Resident Participation Strategy and the options and resources for resident involvment are continually reviewed with residents to ensure PHA is involving, consulting and informing its residents effectively.

PHA's Resident Participation Strategy and Action Plan (2004–2007) sets out five key aims for resident involvement:

  • Ensure all residents have the opportunity for resident participation.
  • Ensure residents have the required support so that they can have an effective influence on the provision of services and the standards of delivery.
  • Develop a menu of options for resident participation that suit the needs and abilities of residents who wish to participate.
  • Demonstrate commitment to working in partnership.
  • Support and deliver a range of community initiatives, in partnership with CREATE, that improve the quality of life for residents.

PHA is committed to involving, consulting and informing residents on all aspects of its business. We have worked with residents to develop a range of formal and informal ways for residents to get involved at a level that suits their individual needs and circumstances. We have also put in place the necessary resources, support and training to enable our residents to participate effectively.
